ANN GOODEY – CHAIR

My dad raced Triumph solos in the 60s and a Triumph sidecar outfit in the 80s before becoming a scrutineer in the late 80s. We as a family supported him throughout and substituted for him in Tech Bay when their 25th wedding anniversary holiday clashed with a meeting at Mallory. I married a travelling marshal and apart from a short break increasing the size of our family, I continued as a clothing scrutineer until the decreasing numbers of volunteers each year meant that I had to expand my repertoire to include noise testing. Gradually my responsibilities increased and I have been responsible for organising and managing Tech Bay for some years. I have served on the committee of BHR for a couple of years before being successfully nominated this year as the Chair.

SOPHIE THOMAS – ENTRIES SECRETARY

I’ve been with the club since the age of 3. I’ve done many roles in the club from Assembly to Radio Log but most of you will remember me passengering sidecars. However since starting a family I’ve moved moved into the role of Entries Secretary

Carole Allison.

I have undertaken several roles within the club since I joined in 1999. I spent many years helping in the race office before I completed the ACU course to become Assistant Clerk of Course, race control and Incident Officer. After two years of training I returned the race office and became the Entries Secretary. This involved taking entries, compiling the race order and completing all ACU required paperwork after the race meetings. After 12 years I wanted a new challenge so I became the club secretary for a year and got involved in creating the race programme for each meeting.

Jayne Allison.

I’ve been with the racing section since my ex started racing in 1988, more than half my lifetime. I started helping out in the office in 1989 with the Wilkinson’s, before becoming entries secretary for a couple of meetings a year ago they could go on track at the same time.   I eventually became entries secretary for every meeting with Sophie and Carole helping me out in the office. You’ll find me back in there this year helping Sophie.I have also tried my hand at Club Secretary, assistant Clerk, Incident Officer, assembly marshal, paddock announcer and most recently Chief Marshal.

DAVE BRISTOW – SCOOTER REP

I started scooter racing when I was 19yrs old at Donnington. Despite being a scooterist through and through I have dabbled in racing both motorbikes and combos. My racing was temporarily put on hold when my daughter was born but I recommenced as I got older. Quite unintentionally I built up a team and gradually got more involved in the organisational side of it. I was a rider rep, a chief technician and then became the Chair of BSSO. Busy supporting others achieve their racing dreams has had an unfortunate ‘down’ side – I have never won a class or a championship. Scooters were invited into the BHR paddock about 12 years ago and we have supported it since. As a BHRC committee member I look forward to supporting our fellow two and three wheel enthusiasts as together we face a difficult year.

Georgina Coldwell – Club Secretary

I got my first bike back in 77 (a GT250) and met my husband few years later when a pal sent him round to help me fix my latest bike. Together we’ve ridden here and abroad watching racing but it only became personal a few years ago when he built himself a bike and took up club racing. A couple of years later a friend said how short BHR were of helpers and asked if I’d help out in clothing scrutineering. One thing lead to another and before I knew it I was attending a technical inspection and noise testing course to get my ACU licence and helping out in both arenas before being asked to consider serving on the BHR committee a year ago.My background is in healthcare and education where I was involved in both advising and managing change. Serving as the Deputy Chair of BHR last year has been a rapid learning curve as well as exciting supporting more experienced colleagues in managing change culminating in the forming of BHRC. Next year I will continue to develop my skills as I’ve been appointed as the club secretary, but I’m looking forward to continuing working in the Tech Bay.

Ralph Coldwell – Treasurer.

I have done a bit of this and a bit of that, but mostly I now do this.

Gerry Daine

Started with VMCC(BHR) in the late 70’s and marshalled from about 1978. Have raced, covered every marshal task including start line assembly, paddock, recovery. Have been entries secretary, chief steward, clerk of the course, secretary and chairman and every job associated with running the club. Eligibility, Chief Technical Officer and shows organiser. At the moment I have just retired from the role of Chairman and I am a committee member and the BHRC representative on the ACU Road Race Committee. All in all it would have been easier to say I have done everything connected to BHR except Treasurer.

Richard East – Clerk of the Course

I’m one of the Clerk’s of the Course for all your events. As a Clerk I’m responsible to the ACU and the club for the organisation and good conduct of a meeting. I’ve been a Clerk of the Course since around 2007 but I’ve been marshalling since 1991 and still do Marshal at BSB, WSBK and MotoGP. I live near Donnington so find it easy to get to most circuits. My other interests include Archery, where I was 2007 Leicestershire and Rutland indoor County Champion and I’m also involved with the Boys Brigade where I play a bugle in the band. We always lead the remembrance day parade in Loughborough and I’m one of the buglers that play The Last Post in the park every year.

WENDY GLENN – Clerk of the Course

I have been working in BHRC’s race control for the last 3 seasons and have been around the club for 17 years. (I have been involved with the BSSO longer, as a lifelong ‘scooterist’). I am a probationary Clerk of the Course for BHRC and a qualified ACU Incident Officer, Technical Inspector and Noise Inspector. I marshal regularly to keep my hand in and I assist at No Limits ACU events. I have experience with BSEC (British Scooter Endurance Club) and I have my solo and sidecar race licences and at one time was a regular competitor until my sidecar and Morgan drivers retired. Racing is my passion and I wish to help BHRC grow and once more be one that riders want to be part of. Its imperative to listen to club members/supporters to modernise, move forward and make the club attractive to riders. I believe that my experience gives me the skills to assist BHRC once again be attractive to our paying customers in a competitive marketplace. My background is in medicine and the military where planning and accuracy is essential and my mantra in life is to do everything I do to the best of my ability. In my spare time, I’m interested in military history, especially the two world wars, and I am a fundraiser for the Army Benevolent Fund and the Poppy Appeal. I am based in Colchester and live with my husband Darren (many of you will know from the recovery van) and our small collection of scooters and motorcycles. I am optimistic for the future of the club and hopefully, myself and the other new committee members will prove that we were worth your vote to the committee.

Mike Kemp

Having joined the VMCC in 1974 I had my first race meeting in 1979 at Oulton Park.
I started racing seriously in 1991 and gained my first championship win in 1992. I had a
spell on the committee in the early noughties and was re-elected in 2022. The following
year I suggested we hold a BHR club stand at Founder’s Day and found myself elected as
an Event Organiser. This led to arranging for a club stand presence in October at the
Stafford show. With support from other club members we had a great time and attracted
new members. Next year Im organising a BHRC stand for the Newark show (January),
Founder’s day and Stafford bike show. I can often be seen at BHRC race meetings riding
138 and helping out on a Friday in scrutineering.
As we are always short of helpers recently managed to recruit my wife Shelley and her
best friend Kate as helpers at meetings where help is needed.

JOHN LORRIMAN

My passion for motor-racing began in 1967 with being a passenger for 4 years. I then moved on to Bantams, minis, grass tracking and racing a 750cc Reliant car prior to joining this Club around 1989. I started racing with this club on a C15 before moving back to sidecars (always number 13) until I retired at the end of the 2018 season having won the Championship in 2017. You will now find me in the recovery van with my son-in-law, Jim.

NIC POWELL- ELIGIBILITY/ACU ROAD RACE AND NON TERRITORIAL REP

Of Vintage 1964 production-year, studied Mechanical & Production Engineering at Huddersfield Polytechnic , and now a “former” aerospace components engineer of 25 years involvement .  I have been with BHR for 10 years (5yrs committee). I started racing in 1983 , competing with CRMC for 20 years in varying degrees of intensity, followed by a wee bit of “unintended time-out”2004-2013 due to career commitments. My first foray into motorcycles was in 1980, as a spotty teenager on an L-plate Yamaha FS1e. Like so many teenagers of that time, the lure of becoming “motorised” at 16 completely overwhelmed any earlier desire for a ropey old ford escort at 17. One Tiger-Cub , and a brief flirtation with a Yamaha RD250B later, I settled on a 350/500 Triumph twin as my mount of choice. The first race meeting I ever attended as a spectator was “Classic Mallory” 1982. After that, the seed was sown “ I was going racing”. That summer, my first 500cc Triumph “classic racer” was built from a myriad of autojumble & locally sourced breakers-yard parts ( so much easier back then ) and my second-ever race meeting was as a competitor the following year at  Classic Donnington, 1983. One’s first race meeting is so revealing – no matter how quick you think you are on the road, you realise you’ve got a whole shed-load still to learn when you hit the track. Likes:- Beer, insanely strong coffee, good old fashioned oily-fingered spannering & fettling necessary to create/ build/prepare own-build motorcycles for road or race. Luckily the preceding all combine quite nicely in the garage or workshop of an evening. Dislikes: don’t get me started !
